District 2 Public Health Partners with Helping Mamas Diaper Bank

The Women’s Health Program of District 2 is proud to partner with Helping Mamas Diaper Bank to support mothers and families in need. This initiative provides diapers to families facing financial challenges, promoting child health, reducing parental stress, and enhancing community well-being.

Helping Mamas was founded in 2014 by Jamie Lackey, a social worker who recognized the critical need for baby supplies among families in crisis. What began as a grassroots effort in her garage has grown into Atlanta’s leading diaper bank and baby supply resource center. Helping Mamas partners with over 150 nonprofit organizations, hospitals, governmental agencies, and other entities throughout the state of Georgia to support children in need. They provide diapers and other essential items to partner organizations, who in turn distribute them directly to families and individuals in need.

Recent statistics from Helping Mamas emphasize the importance of these partnerships: 47% of low-income families must choose between diapers and food for their children, and 25% of working parents cannot use childcare due to inadequate diaper supplies. By working together, Helping Mamas and the Women’s Health Program of District 2 are addressing these challenges and providing vital resources to families with limited incomes.

To date, the health departments have distributed over 25,000 diapers to local mothers participating in public health programs that support families in need. For more information about District 2’s partnership with Helping Mamas, contact Nicky Winniford at 770-535-5890.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for families in need.

Diapers are distributed at local health departments in Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White counties.
