HALL CO. TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING FOR COMPLETION OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT RENOVATIONSHall County Government officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the completion of renovations at the Hall County Health Department, located at 1290 Athens Street in Gainesville.“We broke ground on the Health Department Campus project in November 2023, finished phase one in September 2024, and can now mark this project as complete with renovations wrapped up at the existing Health Department building,” Hall County District 4 Commissioner Jeff Stowe said. “This project fulfills a great need, not only in my district, but to the overall growing population in Hall County, and we are excited to be able to expand and enhance healthcare services to our deserving citizens.”Phase I of the overall Health Department Campus project included the construction of the new 8,000-square-foot medical office building currently leased to Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG), which was formerly housed in the preexisting Health Department building.Upon NGPG’s moveout, Phase II of the project began, which included state-of-the-art renovations, ultimately expanding the usable square footage for daily Health Department operations.“I would like to thank Hall County Government for renovating the Hall County Health Department and for all the improvements to the Butler campus,” Department of Public Health District 2 Director Dr. Zachary Taylor said. “I can confidently say that Hall County now has the finest health department facility in Georgia. The Hall County employees assigned to the renovation did a fantastic job working with the contractors, Hall County Health Department leadership and employees, and with our District 2 leadership.”The total budget for the Health Department Campus project was $10.9 million, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). Light refreshments will be served at the ribbon cutting, and guests will have an opportunity to see the upgraded Health Department building during the event. 🗣 As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting healthy homes and preventing lead exposure, the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is excited to introduce mini, free food pantries in four District 2 counties: Franklin, Lumpkin, Stephens, and Hart! 🍝These counties were selected based on data highlighting areas of greatest nutritional need, particularly among families with young children. 👥👶Each pantry has non-perishable foods that help families stretch their budgets while supporting children’s health. Items rich in calcium, iron, and vitamin C are included because these nutrients can help reduce lead absorption in children. This food is available to anyone who needs it. 💪📍To see food pantry locations, visit: phdistrict2.org/in-the-news/community-events/healthy-homes-start-here-lead-prevention-program-lau... #foodpantry #HealthyHomes #LeadPoisoningPrevention #district2publichealth ...
