A Quick Stop to Protect Yourself from Flu
DISTRICT 2 PUBLIC HEALTH – Drive-thru flu clinics will be hosted by District 2 County Health Departments across North Georgia, so residents can conveniently receive the flu shot. Stop by on one of the scheduled dates to get your flu vaccine taken care of this Fall without even leaving your vehicle.
The flu shot is recommended for everyone ages 6 months and up, except for those who have had a severe allergic reaction to the flu vaccine or any of its components. The flu vaccine is offered at no-cost with most insurance plans, so participants will just need to bring their insurance details. If paying out of pocket, the regular flu vaccine is $30, and the high dose flu vaccine for adults 65 years and older is $66.
Since 2007, District 2 Public Health has provided drive-thru flu clinics for the community as an accessible option, especially for individuals with access and functional needs. Drive-thru flu clinics are available in addition to walk-in services at all health departments during usual hours.
Stay protected from the flu to avoid missing school or work and to reduce doctor’s visits. Last year alone, nearly 2,900 people in District 2 visited the emergency room due to the flu. The CDC states “getting a yearly flu vaccination is the best way to prevent flu and its potentially serious complications.” By getting vaccinated, not only are you protecting yourself, but you are also protecting others around you from the flu.
