FRANKLIN COUNTY – The annual Franklin County rabies vaccine clinics are coming soon! Protect your pets from rabies for just $5 at one of the vaccine clinics.
The Franklin County Health Department along with Dr. April Steele, D.V.M., Dr. Patrick L. Hitchcock, D.V.M., and Dr. Wanda Thompson, D.V.M., will be providing one-year rabies vaccines to cats and dogs on Saturday, May 17.
Because rabies incidents are recurrent in District 2, it is important to vaccinate your pets to protect your household. Use this annual opportunity on May 17 to take care of the health of your pets and yourself.
According to the CDC, rabies is a fatal, but preventable virus that primarily affects wild mammals, including raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes in Georgia. It can spread to pets or even humans through bites, scratches, or exposure to the saliva of an infected animal. The CDC states that pet owners can reduce the risk of rabies by ensuring their pets have received their latest rabies vaccination.
If you are interested to get your pet a 3-year rabies vaccine, we encourage you to contact the vet’s office you plan to visit ahead of time to know the price and availability. The list of vaccine clinics that will be held on May 17 is below. Proof of Franklin County residency will not be needed. Learn more about rabies here: https://phdistrict2.org/environmental-health/7/
