The Strategic National Stockpile is a resource available to states affected by disasters or emergencies that require preventive medications or medical supplies to lessen the effects of the disaster. These assets are managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and are deployed upon request for the assets by a state’s governor and approval by the CDC.
